When it comes to awe-inspiring mountain views, you can’t get much better than those offered by the Banff Gondola. It’s one of the most popular attractions in Banff National Park - and it’s easy to see why. From the gondola base, you’ll be taken on a breathtaking journey over the treetops with views of six glorious mountain ranges and the picturesque Bow Valley. The eight-minute journey culminates at 698m at the Sulphur Mountain summit, where an unforgettable mountaintop experience awaits.
At the peak you’ll find a cutting-edge complex with interactive exhibits, top-class restaurants, a multi-sensory theatre and a panoramic viewing platform. Of course, the main selling point here are the mountain views - if you’re looking to amp up your Instagram, you’ve come to the right place. For those who are feeling adventurous and want to go all out to get that perfect shot, there are plenty of scenic walks and hiking trails to explore. The most popular route is the boardwalk to Sanson’s Peak, which was named after Norman Sanson, who was one of the first pioneers to climb the mountain in 1896. In fact, he made the three-mile hike more than 1000 times throughout his life until the age of 84. If that’s not dedication, we don’t know what is.
Luckily, you don’t have to don your snowshoes like Sanson to enjoy the wonders of Sulphur Mountain today (though you can still climb it). Sit back, relax and enjoy the views from the comfort of the glass-encased gondola and look forward to more alpine adventures at the top.
